Kaiser Permanente’s Eugene medical and dental professionals produce monthly newspaper columns on a variety of localized health-related topics. Marilyn pitched the column concept and coordinates with the features editor. Marilyn researches each topic, interviews that month’s author, writes the draft column and makes edits, then coordinates social media use.

Profile of Program

For this description of a grant-funded program, Marilyn observed the group in action and then wrote an article for the grantor’s newsletter. The profile helped the funders understand the value of their donation.

Newsletter for a Specific Audience

Marilyn and her team created three versions of the same Sanipac newsletter because the readers had different interests: commercial customers, and residents of Springfield and Eugene. Invitation to Fundraising Event

We played with water for a Eugene Education Foundation invitation to a supporters’ salmon barbeque at a museum’s rivers exhibit. We described “students… swimming in waves of knowledge, thanks to the river of support you have generated.” We even specified “water provided.” We weren’t all wet: Public Relations Services won a national design award!

Brochure for Health Plan

To create Employers Health Alliance’s brochure, we focused on two points: the plan’s customizability and the advantage of having virtually all Lane County physicians as panel members. Simple text accompanied strong design. Result? A national award for the brochure and early sign-up of EHA’s first clients.

Business Writing

When five alumni of the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication were inducted into its Hall of Achievement, we researched, interviewed and wrote profiles on each of them. Public Relations Services staff also wrote the scripts for the video profiles and the Dean’s introductory comments. Finally, we wrote a news release that generated coverage.
